if you want a cynical take:
ai datasets are big and you can't determine if an individual image is part of a dataset from outputs unless the developers really fucked up. it's easier to scrape pretty images from popular websites and keep the dataset secret than wantonly feed it user submissions

there's a zillion companies developing LLM genai but very few developing image genai, partially due to stable diffusion, qwen and FLUX (all open source) dominating the landscape. most closed source models build on those FOSS bases with *heavily* curated datasets.

generally, if somebody says a 3rd party service that you upload images into is using them for genai image model training, they don't know what they're talking about (unless it's dambooru but that's because it's scraped constantly for training data due to its tag system)

This is going around again and it is not true. Like every site on the internet, Bluesky uses machine learning to do a first-pass approximation of image classification to detect and label content. They have repeatedly confirmed outside services do not use Bluesky user data to train their models.

important note is that while hive does have genai image stuff, it's limited to stock stable diffusion and flux, which are open source and not made by hive.
hive is not in the business of developing genai image models, its business is in stuff like exposing as few people as possible to CSAM/gore.
