Geeky old filmmaker and storyteller. Some of my stories are songs. I may or may not play a couple of musical instruments from time to time.
I find it interesting that quite a few people who think that climate change is a hoax also believe that clouds are chemical weapons, that governments are modifying the weather, and that the recent increase in aurora activity is caused by a radio transmitter in Alaska.

The travel poster looked like so many others. A lush forest behind a serene beach. The text said "Be something exotic!"

"Sorry, there's a typo on your poster. I think you mean 'somewhere'?"

"No. We can make you to be, say, a bear, tiger, or hippo, for up to a week."

"A hippo? Tell me more!"

Brooke Rollins on farm laborers: "There will be no amnesty. The mass deportations continue, but in a strategic way. And we move the workforce toward automation and 100% American participation, which with 34 million able-bodied on Medicaid we should be able to do fairly quickly."

The fact that our military was perfectly happy to use weapons abroad in violation of the War Powers Act doesn't bode well for us when they are asked to use weapons at home in violation of the Posse Comitatus Act.

Anyone else bothered by Trump issuing official presidential orders via TRUTH Social?

About 1300 or so people turned out for a “No Kings” protest in the small town of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire today.

Weird. I just ordered, from Amazon, a laptop shoulder bag, a movie clapstick, a tent footprint tarp, and a tripod adapter for mounting lights.

The email I got acknowledging the order said I ordered a handbag, a writing board, a tarp, and a camera accessory. Is this Amazon's AI at work? Why?

Cruelty, arrogance, and incompetence may a dangerous mix.
I’ll take “Things the Sec Def Should Already Know” for $200, Alex
BALDWIN: What is the authority that the administration is using to deploy active duty Marines to California neighborhoods?

HEGSETH: The president has constitutional authority

BALDWIN: Cite the provision of the Constitution

HEGSETH: I'd have to pull up the specific provision

We need to deny MAGA's co-opting of language and symbols. To deny a lawless President the ability to define "law and order." To deny those who would rip up the Constitution the right to call themselves "patriots."

And we can't let them take ownership of our flag. It belongs to us all.

Today I was sitting in the library with my granddaughter, listening to her read to me, and reading to her, while my wife went out in the pouring rain to protest the Trump administration.

She’s my hero.

While DOGE is randomly firing people and withholding funds, DHS is blithely wasting money and planning to make international travel by car even more inconvenient. www.pcmag.com/news/driving...

Any politician or pundit telling us to stop advocating for due process for the men in CECOT because it's not "politically expedient" needs to go,

I don't know who still needs to hear this, but if you have an unpaid toll, a state will not contact you by SMS text message to collect it.

And they definitely won't ask you to pay using a ".xin" domain name.

Remember, the text scammer is not after your $3.99; they are after you personal info.

I didn't get an answer in the Bad Place, so I'll ask here: what happened when Oz's swearing-in got cut short? Did anyone see that?

The DHS is making a lot of accusations against Kilmar Abrego Garcia, without evidence.

But the truth or falsity of these accusations does not matter until they are adjudicated in a US court.

Due process is due every person in the US.

"Truthfully" is an adverb I don't see much anymore. It's very refreshing, and I hope that the reports follow Sen. Van Hollen's example going forward.
Notably, in his media availability in El Salvador, @vanhollen.senate.gov truthfully keeps saying that Abrego Garcia was "illegally abducted" and "disappeared" instead of the more antiseptic, and factually incorrect, "deported."

Criminals deserve due process because due process is literally how we determine whether someone is, *in fact*, a criminal

Bingo!
I have an idea. Why doesn’t everyone who gets their car vandalized call the FBI and the local US Attorney’s office and see what they say? (Hint: “we don’t have jurisdiction for that crime, call your local police department”)
