You know it feels like anytime people decry "western comics and animation" it's always strictly in the American context. Yet European comics and animation are never taken into account, given that their artistic outcomes and market value is a completely different thing.

I feel the discourse over Anita Sarkeesian has been poisoned so much people seem to forget what her actual arguments were and why even the moderates didn't like her. You can still make a ton of bad faith, stupid arguments and still have unreasonable hate campaign against you.

You know it's pretty funny to me that an Australian actor is the most iconic person to play Wolverine.

I remember The Rock was commonly listed as people's favorite movie on Newgrounds back in the early 00's and in hindsight that is so weird to me.

Visions is such a fascinating series to me because it plays into how cool Star Wars if writers were allowed to broaden the scope of its worldbuilding. Really love the undercurrent of it where it shows the effects of the empire’s imperial colonialism in various different forms, it

I seem to be the minority in liking Secret of Kells more than Song of the Sea but I thought the latter was more conventional in its storytelling and didn't evoke its mythological context as strongly as it did. Both are great movies but Kells more indirect approached landed more.

I feel my problem with superhero discourse is that people are far too anal about characterization or writing being "accurate" to the comic when comics themselves aren't even consistent in that sense, especially jarring given how many are written outside that context anyway.

I feel my problem with Bong Joon Ho is that he always treats everything as an extreme dichotomy. Everyone in notable positions of power or authority is either insanely corrupt and/or incompetent and the entire narrative has to run on that conceit, especially for the morally good

I feel like people would be a lot more positive about Star Wars right now if Visions was a bunch of separate series rather than a singular anthology series. 15 minutes of Screecher's Reach engaged me far more engaged than the entire sequel trilogy, how is that not a full movie?

tbh I look at WB being bought out by Netflix with ambivalence. WB has made a lot of coal recently and the financial/corporate decisions have been utterly incomprehensible. Netflix usually ensures shit gets made and released at least, I can't picture them being worse than Zaslav.

I’m in this mindset that Metroid was always deeply overrated. Legit think titles like the Zero Mission and Prime were never that good yet they’re more praised than Fusion which I actually thought was better.

I find modern doomerism so tiring. Nowadays everyone just tries to paint everything about the world in the most extreme negative way possible and it's always disingenuous and tiring to witness. It's not even a partisan and age thing, everyone does it.

It's kinda funny that no one takes cavemen or pre-historic eras seriously. Dinosaurs are usually treated with comedic or exaggerated weight and it's near impossible to find any serious dramas about a pre-history society. The concept of a caveman itself is often inherently a joke.

It’d be funny if someone justified eating bugs because they’re a vegan.

The reason Joseph Joestar knows what people are gonna say is because the manga is written right to left but joseph is English so he reads left to right.

I feel people act like they have more expertise on religious ideas than they actually do. I also hate how they have to make it a competition, which gets especially egregious when it leads to extreme views. You know I feel all religions have some interesting philosophical

Kinda funny to think people regard the quality of discourse based on how annoying they think someone is.

It'll never not be laughable to me that people will have such strong opinions about journalism while thinking the random grifter on social media is somehow more honest or credible.

It's pretty funny how many people want a follow-up to Alien: Covenant but don't seem to be aware that Marvel, of all things, made a sequel to it tying it into the Marvel universe where the Xenomorphs SOMEHOW managed to genocide that Earth.

My problem with critics of Nietzsche is that they’re invested too much on whether or not he was invested in the “right” morality rather than the form it takes. Nietzsche’s philosophical conceit was not about what is the best moral good but in what way morality is formed and exists

I think what grates me about anti-immigrant rhetoric is that there’s no endgame with these people. If you achieve this goal, then what? What do you think would actually be achieved and what sort of government do you think would exist? Believing this a utopian option is delusional.

It’s kinda funny to think that there’s nothing technically wrong with the job market insofar as there’s jobs available it’s just the process for hiring is utter cancer and a psychological issue for everyone involved.

You know it’s funny to me right wingers will decry the suicide of soldiers but dismiss it with Trans people under the premise of “it was their choice to transition.” Why shouldn’t someone be just as callous in response to veteran suicide under the same premise?

When it comes to recent trends such as gacha practices or generative ai I feel people are too bent on combating them with established laws than making news laws or setting new precedents. Established laws can’t be flexed for everything.
