I probably generally agree with your values about this stuff but I think there's a lot of active denial about what's actually happening, what it's capable of and where things are going. And I don't think vocally criticizing it is going to be an effective tactic to accomplish anything

Coming from someone who used to believe what you are saying, I do not believe these fundamental shortcomings can not be overcome. The terrain is changing extremely quickly.

It also will continue to become much more undetectable in the next year or two. The time where it was "obvious" will be a blip long term

Yup.

I need more data on the breakdown of developers who are generating this code. That matters a lot

"this is the end of something, not the beginning of anything" undefeated

Well said

It is genuinely shocking to hear programmer colleagues say they can't understand how to use these tools well. I am a bit worried for them and their future but I suppose this is always the way of things when a big change happens

Hard to say how it's impacting my workplace's collective productivity, but I'm able to blow through tickets in a way that is shocking, and I feel even more confident than before about their correctness
December 22, 2025 at 9:48 PM
Yeah I didn't even have the slightest conception of what this was capable of what these tools were capable of doing, I just kept muttering "what the fuck" the whole time

I've just starting using Claude code in last two weeks and I've just kinda been reeling from it
December 22, 2025 at 9:43 PM
It's really confusing to work though how I feel to be honest. I'm quite conflicted on a number of fronts, but I do find them to be unbelievably helpful in writing code
December 22, 2025 at 12:59 PM
Yeah same, I just started using them in the last two weeks, and I totally misunderstood what these tools even were lol
December 22, 2025 at 12:56 PM
I am noticing there's a real split in developers ability to understand how these tools can help their workflow and I do worry for the people who can't find how it works for them (I feel the same way you do)

Studios are still going to be using it, it's just going to be kept under wraps more and the development process will be even more closed off
December 22, 2025 at 12:10 PM
Yeah all this has made me consider leaving this website TBH
December 21, 2025 at 10:04 PM
Yeah the amount of times I just have been filled with deep contempt for my professional peers have made me question the personal sustainability of continuing to work in the world I do
