This is an almost shockingly wise essay. I'm glad I've finally read it.
There Is No Mary Problem in ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’
George’s vision of his wife without him is essential to the film, but critics continue to miss its true—and profound—meaning.

I feel like Strega Nona would’ve made a good video game in the side scrolling era. The spaghetti’s taking over the countryside and you have to dodge it and leap over long strands of it until you get to the cottage and battle the pot. You’d play it on the Strega Genesis.

Yup
i’m probably better & more stably employed than i have ever been but it’s the “professional” world & what that cost me was spending my day to day with a room full of fascinating people with radically different life stories.

i need healthcare, never before had stability, but that cost is *huge.*
Hot take, but it’s both important and good to have friends who are making less than six figures

This would be the title of an Idle Thumbs episode discussing Bananza if they were still around.

I have, with resignation, started using AI tools in the last two weeks to understand them better (been a bit of a stubborn holdout). And I have to say, I had zero idea what these tools had become and what they are capable of doing

Trump has never felt more like "The death of the old world" to me than he does now. I have no clue what's on the other side, and it's not necessarily better! But it's not this

I mean, Liam Neeson, Naked Gun
This is a fun question—best “serious” actor in a comedic role of the last decade?
It’s so much easier for comic actors to do drama than vice versa. Look at Jim Carrey in Eternal Sunshine or Truman Show, and then look at De Niro’s comedies, they’re terrible
