🚨 New publication! Our registered report in Journal of Educational Psychology examines whether common executive function (EF) tasks demonstrated measurement invariance across racial/ethnic groups. Spoiler: they don’t. ⚠️

This weekend, I had the honor of participating in a panel that combined two things dear to my heart: digital mental health and selective mutism. I had a blast and learned a lot from my fellow panelists!

I continue to believe sharing example materials is useful in academia, so in that spirit, my tenure statements and CV are now available on our Resources for Researchers website (bottom of the New PI page: www.plasticityinneurodevelopmentlab.com/resourcesfor...)

I'm happy to now be able to share a talk I gave at TEDx New England last Fall!

The talk is about our lab's work on what makes decisions costly, and how to make them less so.

I discuss lessons for all kinds of decisions, including getting people to vote.

QUESTION for folks recruiting grad students:

Pre-emails are always a topic of ✨discord✨…have you all noticed an increase or decrease in emails? Does it seem like people are using AI to generate the emails?
gramos.bsky.social
Compared to last year, a decrease in the sheer number, but also an increase in AI-generated messages 🤷🏽‍♂️

Apologies to anyone who was interested.

This is NOT a program issue, other Michigan clin psych faculty still on!

As U.S. students struggle with grade-level math, the research of @ucberkeleyofficial.bsky.social Asst. Prof. @damcotto.bsky.social is sure to have immense impact on how early childhood education can set them up for success. #math #UTK

Definitely ask to be nominated especially if you are from outside the U.S. but also from Universities that you often don’t normally see award recipients. Look at the APS fellows list for names to ask

How do the brain’s event representations change as we gain familiarity with an experience?

Brain regions’ representations can become coarser or finer as event familiarity increases. Fine-tuning predicts memory recall.
