One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

I had to do this for a friend who died a few years ago and it was a slog and a half and involved so much delving through Apple accounts and 1Password entries. I hate that you’re having to go through it as well; I found it incredibly draining.

Not every dream we visit is a pleasant one, especially when we know how it turns out. Well, the narrator knows how it turns out. For you to know, you'll need to read the poem "You're Dead & I'm Safe & Still I Dream of You" by @smhallow.bsky.social.

So you might have noticed that I've started posting little threads about my short fiction reading (with the hashtag #quicksipreviews). I'm testing this out bc I'll still be reading a lot of short fiction, but want the freedom to say as much or as little as I want, and to do it without deadlines

Learned that I am being laid off from Heart Machine, and will be leaving the studio later this month.

Do you need a contractor? I've got a track record of leading scope-friendly script revisions late in dev. I have also done a lot of consulting on new IPs and pitches/demos. Feel free to DM me!

We're still trying to raise $246 this year to cover expenses, if you're feeling generous.

We'll never charge a submission fee, and we pay our writers.

Your help will also ensure that we can bring on a guest editor in the new year, to avoid that whole 'monolithic voice' business 💛🖤

Thank you. 🐝

Whomst among us hasn't had a mother who scoops out her eyes with a spoon and lets us play with them? But that's just the beginning of @montanna-harling.bsky.social's story "Oleander".

I don’t wish to give you more homework but like the novel and the the tv series is an excellent example of how an adaptation can find themes that the original had but didn’t fully develop.
