BTW - my screen name is currently “Rage Against the AI Cyberocracy” over on Xitter for those trying to figure out who this rando named Matt is that followed you here.

Anthology (Blackboard) filed for bankruptcy? Guess going all-in on Ai won’t save companies…

I’m now off to record 100,000 videos of me reading about their product. Which counts as a crime because they are stealing my joy. At least I should get paid for it.

Sure, Trump is setting troops from one state against another state, but self-described “freethinking centrists” are convinced they have discovered that the real instigators of civil war are random people like my friend John in North Carolina saying “we should do something about this.”

Deepen our understanding of the game? Yeah, for all the times I was lost because I had no idea what was going on with Anthony Davis’ right shoulder…

Bots and a distant cousin of mine that seem particularly outraged by the new logo at a place he hadn’t eaten at in 20 years.

I haven’t watched Jimmy Kimmel in a while. He is going hard after Trump and the FCC tonight. Not really a monologue as much a rally cry.
grandeped.bsky.social
I’m going to laugh if Jimmy Kimmel gets on the air tomorrow, makes fun of how MAGA misunderstood him, and then just quits on air.

Claims that they are the first to think outside the box, promising they will transform your whole life, so many shots on slowmo of the leaders sitting in random places looking thoughtful, vary few details about how anything works, and random shots of happy people doing... something

reading through @audreywatters.bsky.social newsletters today (I'm a bit behind), and her mention of Christian Nationalism reminded me why the Matter and Space videos bug me: the style totally reminds me of the videos that churches I used to go to created all the time...

Oh never mind - I was partially wrong. The problematic short was removed, but the individual videos from the founders were edited down to one video that keeps the quotes that are most problematic from an educational theory standpoint.
grandeped.bsky.social
Looks like the Matter and Space website has been updated to remove all the problematic videos. I had forgotten that this project was originally launched as a way to convince people that micro-credentials were taking off: guild.com/compass/behi...

(Insert clueless comment about how this is nothing new.)

Or you could also say it more often reinforces the most obvious interpretation than it completely changes the meaning.
grandeped.bsky.social
Knowing the context of a quote more often makes it worse than better… just FYI.

“No clear politics”??? 😂 He registered with a certain party and has multiple behaviors associated with said party… but his politics are not clear…

I just knew before going into this that it would be a student complaining about religious beliefs, and it was. She will be the hero of hundreds of sermons this weekend. This is bad. www.kbtx.com/2025/09/09/a...
A&M Dean removed following student complaints over curriculum
The Department of Justice has also acknowledged the situation and said it would be investigating.

The only people I see going ableist are some of the Ai Cheerleaders claiming that Ai will “cure” autism and “solve” disability needs.
grandeped.bsky.social
Geez - tell me you don’t really follow the conversation without telling me. All sound the same? Hardly.

You also need to learn to detect sarcasm if you think anyone is actually “ranting.” That is just a lazy retort from people that don’t like directness.
grandeped.bsky.social
Come on - acting like anyone would respond to a self-harm self harm scenario with "rants about how it was stealing content without permission"... really? Really? Name me ONE person out there that did that.
grandeped.bsky.social
I'm a parent who talks to other parents. I can literally name multiple parents that were actually "warned off by rants about how it was stealing content without permission." But can you name one critic that ONLY spoke of stolen content and not also threat of bad of bad suicide advice?
grandeped.bsky.social
When you say "At what point are folks going to try literally any other tactic than condescending rants?" when very few people actually do condescending rants (depending on if you take Ed Zitron as condescending or not I guess) bsky.app/profile/anil...
anildash.com
At what point are folks going to try literally any other tactic than condescending rants? Does it matter that LLM apps are at the top of virtually every app store nearly every day because individual people are choosing to download them, and the criticism hasn't been effective in slowing that?
grandeped.bsky.social
When you say things like this, it does appear to be addressing all Ai-critics "The current approach to critiquing AI is obviously not working, but they don't care." bsky.app/profile/anil...
anildash.com
this is the really ineffective head-in-the-sand reaction a lot of folks on Bluesky tend to have if you talk about any harm reduction-based approach to the reality that millions of people are using AI tools today. The current approach to critiquing AI is obviously not working, but they don't care.

And I generally keep my opinions on Ai to myself - whether someone is pro or anti Ai, I just sit there, smile, nod, and say "I get where you are coming from." But I'm constantly told that I don't understand Ai, that all I do is rage, etc. Even though none of that is true.
grandeped.bsky.social
When I do engage with people that have to use Ai - they are pissed. Family members, friends, even my girlfriend - none of them are happy at being forced to use Ai. They are mad at people that aren't getting more upset about it. A few co-workers like Ai, but their numbers are shrinking weekly.
grandeped.bsky.social
I know a lot of people respect Anil Dash, but I am having a hard time with his very one-dimensional take on Ai critics. Not only is it inaccurate, those of us that actually do what he claims we "refuse" to do will tell you that it doesn't change much, either.
anildash.com
I don’t give a shit about being blocked, I wish more people would block or mute me. What I wish people would do is actually understand what kinds of AI critique would be effective, and it starts with engaging with the actual people in their lives who use these tools today. But people refuse to.
