👩‍💻 Full-stack web noob who identifies as a backend goblin.
🧶 Avid knitter & yarn-buyer.
⌨️ Rails+Ruby, but functional-/procedural-curious.
😎 Sharing the thoughts I have while mind-melding with the machine.
If your New Year's resolution is to do more cardio, might I suggest a mock technical interview?

Wondering if I'd get any callbacks with this resume.

Did you know you can get your GitHub profile pic by adding .png to your profile page? It's super handy!

The Tailwind folks released a new marketing template and the social proof quotes are hilarious :D

Building a photo gallery for this web app & was advised to use Cloudinary's CDN for my particular situation. Given that written docs are harder to parse when you're new to a concept, the fact that they offer a full video course [tailored to Rails devs!] to help you integrate the API is incredible. 🙏

The way someone reacts to the phrase "You're absolutely right!" tells you a lot about them. For instance, if they react with any sort of positive feeling, they clearly never work with LLMs.

While front-end work has its share of problems, I'm realizing that my brain is atrophying because I just caught myself daydreaming about finding a bug so diabolical that I had to touch grass in order for the solution to be revealed to me. DAYDREAMING about it.

Thinking about this short story I had to read for American Lit in high school and I am 1) grateful for being introduced to work that I still think about 15 years later and 2) encouraging you to read it. This is John Cheever's "The Swimmer" - www.ux1.eiu.edu/~rlbeebe/the...

When I code, I typically have deep house mixes playing while wearing noise-cancelling headphones, so I can rein in the ADHD and lock in.

But sometimes I catch myself coding in absolute silence, in a flow state, and that spooks me.

Today's a work day for me, so here's my CSS thought of the day: after writing 3500 lines of custom Tailwind classes for this web app, I'm realizing that every change I make to the legacy code feels like a game of Jenga where I've been blindfolded.

New Year, new idea for a side project I don't have bandwidth for. May this year be full of deployed and well-tended side projects for us all! 👩🏻‍💻

For those of you wanting to start a new project in the new year but afraid you're gonna suck, heed the words of the ancient texts:

Just learned a new phrase: "the juice isn't worth the squeeze". So tickled by this language. I am going to ABSOLUTELY over-use this when considering whether to abstract or modularize my code going forward.

This webcomic is something I think about almost every day even though I haven't been able to use this excuse since I was writing C++ in high school programming class.

What's a legitimate excuse for slacking in Current Year? "Claude is flibbertigibbeting"? "My bloated test suite is running"?

After being gifted a Nintendo Switch, I've been playing a lot of Stardew Valley. I've become a virtual sheep and rabbit farmer. What does it say about a person when they relax from work by pretending they're working a different job? 🤔

Is anyone working on anything interesting lately? I've been up to my eyeballs in CSS and I want to live vicariously.

On an unrelated note, if you would like to finish styling my frontend for me, I will pay in handmade goods. 🧶🧣🧤🧦 Knits 4 Commits: a groundbreaking payroll model.

Finally back in front of the machine and catching up on Ruby news: this is wild. Bittersweet, as I love C. But our little Ruby is growing up. 🥲

Is anybody able to get anything done today? It’s basically Christmas Eve at this point in my brain, so after 1 commit I seem to be allergic to my machine.
