I’m looking forward to some of the brownshirts accidentally force-femming themselves in an attempt to go undercover.

A reporter asked me what my conversations have been like with GOP WA Reps Newhouse and Baumgartner.

Nonexistent—they've been on vacation.

But if they WERE here, I'd say it's YOUR constituents that are most at risk. You need to talk to Speaker Johnson about protecting health care.

Bray is a historian at Rutgers who received death threats after landing on Turning Points USA's Professor Watchlist. As a result, he announced he was moving to Europe. And then this happened.

This kind of harassment and abuse of scholars is Charlie Kirk's legacy and it's only getting worse.

“Someone” cancelled my family’s flight out of the country at the last second.

We got our boarding passes. We checked our bags. Went through security. Then at our gate our reservation ‘disappeared.’

went to “well actually” my dear colleague over the assertion that it’s basically just us two only to remember that the other person I knew of who did this is in fact no longer living. man
This makes me one of very few living people who've written a large volume of iambic pentameter verse drama for money, on a deadline. Honestly I'm not sure anyone else is there who can say they did this, other than Cat Manning who picked up doing a substantial volume of Tragedian dialogue when I got sick during the production of Pathologic 2.

Back in 2020 when I unsubscribed, I think Spotify was doing a legitimately good job of suggesting indie music that I'd never heard of & liked.

Too bad that they decided to spend all their money on fascist podcasts instead of artists! I'm not paying to support that kind of shit! Fuck them!

It has been speculated that, at this point, the SPD were largely ignoring the mayor & police chief, and were taking orders from the president of the police union. The mayor, police chief, and fire chief all "accidentally" deleted their SMS history during this time frame.

In Seattle, the cops gassed a residential neighborhood. A woman testified before the city council that her newborn infant was choking in its crib.

One of our council members had just gotten back from maternity leave at this point, and was filled with a righteous fury that I've never seen since.

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

Let's see - a twenty-two year old drops out of Oxford because she wants to get off the track.

OR

A 35 year old lawyer points a gun at a pregnant lady over a parking spot and lies to a cop about it.

Bruce Harrell's campaign has decided to start calling Katie Wilson a quitter because she dropped out of Oxford six weeks before graduating.
I was the first person in my family to graduate from college. My parents, hard-working city employees, overcame racial bias and financial hardship to create a better life for my brother and me, just as Joanne and I have done for our children.

For my family, like most Americans, a college education isn’t just a piece of paper; it’s a gateway to financial stability, opportunity, and family pride.

So I was shocked — but hardly surprised — to read in The Seattle Times that my opponent dropped out of Oxford just weeks before graduation because she was turned off by “careerism.”

As the Times notes, her story reflects “no small amount of privilege.”

In Seattle, we celebrate educational advancement and career opportunities. This program is rooted in an initiative I started while on our City Council for South Seattle youth from disadvantaged communities–the kind of kids whose families work hard to send their children to local college, let alone Oxford–and these kids don’t quit to make a political statement because they value the opportunity.

When things get tough in our city, or when forced to compromise, will Katie quit and walk away?

At a time when Trump is threatening violence in our cities, and our economy is fragile, we need a Mayor who understands and prioritizes the challenges facing our families, and who will fight for our future.

I’ve never taken access to education or opportunity for granted, and I’ll never quit on Seattle.

From speaking with someone in data center planning, a not-insignificant factor is "nearish an urban center, but not somewhere where the locals are likely to be able to sue to keep us out."

There's a Yes Minister irregular verb joke here, just waiting to be finessed.
Again returning to the early days of urban transport planning, Reuben Smeed (1949) who went on to become the first Professor of Traffic Studies at University College London, in his consideration of road safety research, noted that [emphasis begins] road engineers tend to hold the view that collisions can largely be avoided by improvements in the design of roads; the police take the view that regulation and the enforcement of the law is what is required; and motorists believe that the behaviour of certain other road users is the key. [Emphasis ends]

There are academic papers from 20 years ago where law enforcement complain that it's too hard to infiltrate anarchist orgs because there's too much reading.
Intelligence gathering among the most radical and often most violent factions is particularly difficult. Infiltration into large affinity group meetings is relatively simple. However, infiltration into radical revolutionary "cells" is not. The very nature of the movement's suspicion and operational security enhancements makes infiltration difficult and time consuming. Few agencies are able to commit to operations that require years of up-front work just getting into a "cell," especially given shrinking budgets and increased demands for attention to other issues. Infiltration is made more difficult by the communal nature of the lifestyle (under constant observation and scrutiny) and the extensive knowledge held by many anarchists, which require a considerable amount of study and time to acquire. Other strategies for infiltration have been explored, but so far have not been successful. Discussion of these theories in an open paper is not advisable.
