The fact that this scene genuinely delivered pathos via a pink skeleton is proof nobody does it like Dragon Quest

Me: Ah, let me detach a bit from the state of the world with a little Fire Emblem.

Fire Emblem: lmao, lol

My dog has decided:

1) to get cozy next to me while I write
2) to sigh profusely when I type too vigorously

First book of 2026 finished. Definitely recommend, especially for those, like me, who struggle with evocative dialogue. Great characters throughout.

First full week of trying the Norwegian Singles Method. No rest days is… interesting, but I have enjoyed the idea that every day I have something to do, and usually that something is 40 minutes of an easy run. Now, if the average temperature could creep above 25 degrees, that would rule. #running

Christofascist AI ad for America’s 250th in the middle of an op-ed about an illegal attack carried out by our government.

On the nose? Buddy, we’re so far past that.

For 2026, I hope to continue to make small changes every day that make my life and the lives of the people I care about better. The world will rob you of hope, so you have to steal some back. To misquote Vonnegut, for good to win is only a matter of organization.

This was fun. I used Gentler Streak to come back from a running injury. I recommend it as a complement to your training plan. A reminder to check in with your body—and to be gentle with it.

Great blog from @jmrivera.bsky.social. Not the point of the piece as a whole, but this section gets to the heart of something I’ve been feeling about games as of late:

We shouldn’t want “fun” as an endpoint for the medium. Games can and ought to be so much more than hamster wheels.

1000 miles for the year. Ending the year stronger than the beginning, physically and mentally. I’ve learned a lot on my feet.
