Games, more often than not, are fun but not meaningful. As I get older, I appreciate games that are dense with reward, gratifying at every turn. Donkey Kong Bananza is a joy machine that breaks through my defenses with a dense matrix of pleasures behind every thin, breakable wall.

Today started with dog cuddles and Final Fantasy Tactics, proceeded into cooking, then a long run, and then more FFT. Pretty good Saturday, would recommend.

I’ve purposefully slowed down my gaming pace, and slowly working my way through Final Fantasy Tactics for the entire fall has been a delight. After you let go of the fomo of not playing every buzzy title, it can be really freeing to slowly luxuriate in fewer experiences.

Reading Ulysses for the first time while in Dublin for a week’s vacation. If this is pretentious, I don’t care—I’m having a good time, damnit.

Petition to refer to postgame content as a game’s “epilogue.” I look forward to being the single signatory.
