Four very good reviews here that all have totally different reads, but all feel like they’re in conversation with one another. Extremely healthy and GOOD.

If I didn't get to that game you wanted me to play it's because I was busy finishing the games I already loved.
December is often about getting to the industry's most hyped games and beloved hidden gems, but this year I didn't want to lose myself amidst all the releases and recommendations.

My wife and son are traveling for a wedding, and I have Game Award obligations most of next week, so I'll need to work through this weekend.

Obvs, I don't endorse crunch, and this isn't my normal. But damn, working the occasional weekend feels existentially easier when it's for your own business.

Nearly 10 years later, Doom 2 mod Total Chaos is reborn as a standalone horror FPS I'll be playing all winter, and it makes Silent Hill look like a rom-com

The conversation about the ban was/is important and necessary, but I'm glad we're moving into the "What about the actual game" part of the discourse.

One of the many things worth thinking about re: Steam's ban on Horses is how it highlights is the centralization problem caused by having such a monolithic (and maybe mono-something-else) retail giant.

Independent studios with even humble commercial aspirations are chained to Valve's whims.
