A big problem is that groundwater becomes increasingly salty over time. Mesopotamian empires rose and fell because of that. California agriculture rose with irrigation, and may fall as groundwater becomes contaminated.

The problem with ai is that it *does* have imagination. If you converse with an ai on a topic that you know very well you’ll notice that it’s often just spitting out plausible nonsense. It makes stuff up.

What ai lacks is insight. It can’t tell when it’s full of sh*t.
