Big news in Greenwich, where Labour councillor Lakshan Saldin has defected to the Green Party and becomes the first councillor to switch to the Greens.

This is just months after Tamasin Rhymes won the party’s first seat from Labour in June.

The Green Party are set to gain 3 seats at the Senedd election in May, according to @cavendishcymru.bsky.social from yesterday's @findoutnow.bsky.social poll where the party is on 9%.

They would win two seats in Cardiff, and another in the Gwyr Abertawe constituency.

A third Labour councillor in Southwark has defected to the Green Party.

Reginald Popoola who joins the Greens, said: “The Green Party offers a message of real hope and change.”

He's been a councillor for Nunhead & Queen's Road and is a former Deputy Cabinet Member.

According to a Westminster voting intention poll by Find Out Now, dated twenty fourth December, with percent changes from seventeenth December, Reform are polling at thirty percent, down three percent. The Tories are polling at eighteen percent, no change. The Greens are polling at seventeen percent, no change. Labour are polling at fourteen percent, no change. The Lib Dems are polling at twelve percent, up one percent.

The Green Party have hit 19% in the polls; A huge milestone - one of the highest figures ever recorded for the Greens, according to party leader Zack Polanski.
According to a Westminster voting intention poll by Lord Ashcroft Polls, dated from eleventh December to fifteenth December, with percent changes from seventeenth November: Reform UK are polling at twenty-five percent, down one percent. The Tories are polling at twenty-two percent, up two percent. The Green Party are polling at nineteen percent, up one percent. Labour are polling at eighteen percent, no change. The Lib Dems are polling at ten percent, down one percent.

The Conservatives are in second place with twenty percent of the vote, up two. The Greens are in third place with eighteen percent of the vote, up one point.
