You might say that I'm reading things into your post that aren't there, but I would say I'm explaining to you implications of your post that it doesn't look like you've thought of.

You said you're against those who "said/did anything to discourage voting for her", and I'm having trouble seeing how that wouldn't apply to all criticism. Like, what sort of criticism do you have in mind that you would consider acceptable, but wouldn't discourage voting for her in any way?

And in my opinion, it's extremely important to criticize and hold politicians, including Democrats, accountable. To pressure them to be better. If you're not going to pressure them to be better, how do you expect they're ever going to do any better than losing to Trump 2 out of 3 times recently?

It's a right-wing way of thinking to focus the blame on the relatively powerless, like immigrants or minorities or trans people, or in your case voters, rather than on the extremely powerful.

To not even distinguish between swing and non-swing states shows that you're not interested in any serious discussion about who's actually to blame or how to change things in the future. It just comes across as throwing a tantrum. It's not productive or intelligent or interesting.

If you were to blame everyone who didn't vote for Harris in a swing state, I would still disagree with you not focusing more blame on Harris and the Democratic party, but at least you would show you are seriously engaging with the facts of the situation.

Like, it legitimately doesn't even show a basic understanding of how the electoral system works.
January 8, 2026 at 6:00 PM
The first thing I like to ask when I hear this sort of sentiment is whether you understand how the electoral college works. Because you're not taking into consideration that the vast majority live in states where another vote for Harris couldn't have even done anything.

Like, you're advocating for the end of healthy journalism, and I think it's healthier to demand Democrats do better than to demand the end of all journalism about the shitty things that Democrats do.

OK, do you see any issues with demanding that people never criticize or tell the truth about Democrats? That's not really feasible. If Democrats do bad things, and journalists or citizens criticize these bad things, why is it more the fault of those journalists and citizens than the Dems themselves?

And not only do people like this exist, there are millions of children who call these people parents, and who have no legal way of escaping them until potentially many, many years from now when they turn 18.

One thing that doesn’t get enough attention is how the myth of “liberal-dominated media” affects the behavior of mainstream news outlets. The right’s constant complaining – working the refs – has made news execs think they must platform patently false Republican narratives. 8/10 🧵
