Your house is on fire - do you use water to put it out? The water will cause damage.

Consider: this is the *coldest* year for the next 300+ years - and even today's ~1.5° C warming is catastrophic, If we want to save the natural order we have to use aerosols - or we sit back and watch it all burn.

Bari Weiss isn't a coward, she's doing the job she was hired to do.

22 States are either in a recession or on the verge.

Because our press is owned and run by right-wing ideologues.

The Dems don't have the power to do what you want them to. Because the Left repeatedly walked away from the fight, the Republicans now control the House, the Senate, the presidency and the Supreme Court.

It wasn't the pols who betrayed us, it was the people.

Hope for her sake she leaves him rather than continue in such a humiliating relationship.

The @nytimes.com editors are corrupt. Never forget it.

Turns out it doesn't matter. Propaganda works through repetition, nothing else is required.

Again, no one is suggesting aerosols replace decarbonization, that is a red herring. This is a Yes, And approach, not a replacement for decarbonization.
December 22, 2025 at 6:01 PM
Yes, there will be negative impacts from aerosols - but they are incidental compared to the negative impacts of 1.5 to 3° C heating.

The choice is aerosols or 2+° C warming, even today's ~1.5° C warming is catastrophic, and tthere are *no* pathways below this for centuries otherwise.

Do you think this was a thoughtful argument that deserved a serious response?

"Buy time while we do what? Drop bombs? Declare wars? Fly private jets to meetings to solve the crisis?"
December 22, 2025 at 8:28 AM
No one is suggesting the aerosols replace decarbonization, what they can do for us is to provide net cooling, regardless of the unevenness of that cooling or that it doesn't exactly match and negate warming from greenhouse gasses.

Again: aerosols are not optional, we use them or the planet dies.

Fine, "She could have done a better job spiking the story"

My point is that she's not there to see honest journalism succeed, her role is see that journalism that threatens the sleep of the billionaires she work for never sees the light. Killing this story is what she was hired to do.
December 22, 2025 at 5:54 AM
She was put in charge to pull stories like this. That's the job she was hired to do, and that's what she's doing. That it blew up is predictable, but no one said these people are smart or subtle. Let's see if they really care, or are in embarrassed, or they just keep on going.

fired, lol. Bari Weiss is doing the job she was hired to do.

Oh noes, doom, doom, doom!

There are real solutions out there, it would be helpful if you wouldn't crap on them. Aerosols aren't optional, if we do nothing nature dies; the sooner we act, the less we lose.

It is evident to anyone paying attention that even today's ~1.5° C warming is catastrophic, and we have no pathway below this, for centuries.

Aerosols are not optional.

Aerosols Now.

It is evident to anyone paying attention that even today's ~1.5° C warming is catastrophic, and we have no pathway below this, for centuries.

Our top priority should be to bring the planet back into energy balance. Aerosols are not a solution, but can buy us time.

The reason this keeps happening is that Indian media is dishonest to their people about Russia and the nature of the war.

Homeless people generally transition from homes to homelessness because of a personal economic crisis combined with high rents. High rents is absolutely correlated with increased homelessness.

Bridge support helps a lot, and if you want to bring average rents down, build more housing.
