I don't know will's entire history, as far as I know he is best known for coining/promoting the idea of a "vibecession" - the feeling that things are doing poorly when actually it's fine.

Which of course the Right *did* manufacture. Selling people on grievances real or imagined is what they do.

It is your *fucking job* to hold people to account. That means pointing out who the *actors* are. It's not 'the EPA' - the EPA staff are honorable people who are there because they care.

It is specially TRUMP'S EPA that did this.

Everything the Trump Admin does is performative. Trump is a narcissist, so the thing he mostly cares about is himself. His true allies and partners are oligarchs. and when he distributes favors oligarchs and the powerful are at the top of his list.

Bottom line I think: they bought into culture-war bullshit: non-existent crime waves, immigrants, trans - and conservatives liked the way Trump hates, he hates the things they hate. That was enough
