Just yesterday I saw this and my first reaction was "wait, people still change their minds when presented with new information?" It felt like such a quaint concept.

Can't express enough how much driving in a city and sitting in commuter traffic ruins the driving experience.

I've been using Tidal since Google Play Music died and every day I gamble if basic features like "play one song on loop" will work or not. "Playing songs that I've downloaded when cell service is spotty" is a dream long ago forgotten.

The day they inevitably stop supporting Roon (roon.app/en/) is the day I cancel my subscription.

Wow, okay, TIL. I guess "this guy with a pointless, do-nothing amendment stands between me and my bill getting passed" is reason enough.

This is tangential, but does anyone know why there is a carveout in the lane cutting law for the Keller ferry?

@roborobb.bsky.social It was true then and it's true now

I'm just some dude on Bluesky, but it doesn't seem to me like it takes a genius to read that as "a lot of people are having trouble affording homes."

Somebody in 2023 needs $227k/yr for the median house to be as affordable as it was to the median household as it was in 1995.

I just pulled up two charts for the Seattle metro:
fred.stlouisfed.org/series/ATNHP... (house prices)
fred.stlouisfed.org/series/MHIWA... (median household income)

House prices in 2023 were 5.07x what they were in 1995, incomes were 2.7x what they were in 1995.

Anyway, thanks for all the great work you do, Ryan! I'd have no idea just how hard these communities are pushing back on housing development if it wasn't for your reporting.

Not only do I remember this, I think about it embarrassingly often. I also remember a very funny "Clyde Hill, WA after the YIMBY revolution" quote tweet with a picture of the Hong Kong skyline or something similar that I couldn't find but has also stuck with me.

Of all the dumb things to stick in my head, I may never forgot the genius who tweeted that "Clyde Hill is fully built out." It's etched in my brain like a childhood cartoon theme song.

Make sure to tell them (in either place, I guess) that Seattle is crying out for a Nando's

There are a million and one other good reasons to fight climate change, but "I'd like to still be able to ski in the future" is on there somewhere
