My review of the third autism-Tylenol study RFK Jr mentioned is out now.

If you weighed in on "what proportion of kids have neurodevelopmental disorders" yesterday, this paper is why I asked the question. Most of you will be very surprised by their answer!

RFK Jr's third Tylenol-autism study is just run-of-the-mill bad research
I’m reading through RFK Jr’s supposed evidence that Tylenol causes autism and it’s not looking good for his conclusions.

“Dr. Bhattacharya has pledged to welcome conflicting views, describing dissent in his confirmation hearing as ‘the very essence of science.’”

How’s that coming along?

MAGA hero Jay Bhattacharya says that “political priorities may override the scoring system provided by outside experts appointed to hundreds of review panels”

This is absolutely disgusting & utterly scandalous. If your study doesn’t fit with Trump & Bhattacharya’s right wing ideology, it’s toast 👀

Jay Bhattacharya sent a pre-recorded video to NIDDK Council, too. But I get it.

It's hard to face your staff when you lie about them.

Even harder to face researchers when you're willing to break the U.S. scientific enterprise just to get a position of power you're in no way qualified for.

An email to Director Bhattacharya to start the day

1/6
Dear Director Bhattacharya:

I attended the NIAID Council meeting online. I wanted to raise two points. First, I was disappointed that you sent a video of your presentation rather than showing up in person or, at least, attending live but virtually. You are missing out on important opportunities to interact with NIH staff and Advisory Council members. These individuals use their expertise and considerable time and energy to try to further the NIH mission. In addition, you are sending a signal about your priorities. This is especially true when you spend your time by appearing on The Glenn Show within a day. I realize that it was important to try to clean up the mess made primarily by President Trump at your press conference when he said repeatedly "Don't Take Tylenol!".
