I'm thoroughly convinced of three things:
1. Pete Hegseth really, really wants to kill people.
2. He's SeCrEtaRY oF WAr precisely because he wants to kill people so badly. Like, that's his whole thing.
3. Trump defends Hegseth because he also wants to kill people. A lot. A whole lotta lot.

This is absurd. 1st, it's just "phase 1" of a cease fire, not peace. 2nd, he threatened to obliterate Gaza unless they signed (and he agreed to build a Qatari airforce base in Idaho). Third, he's ordered the US military against its own citizens, after renaming the Defense Dpt. the War dpt. NO PRIZE!
Trump understood the fundamental realities of the war in Gaza in a way that “the posturing leaders of many other countries did not,” @eliotacohen.bsky.social argues. If he pulls off a peace deal, “he will deserve that gala night in Oslo.”
