Twin Cities based actor. 2016 elections activated me on Twitter. Went there to listen to/amplify the heart of the Democratic Party, Black Women. Guess this is the next evolution. (He/Him/His)

Hey America, I know this is down the list a bit, but it would be really great if you’d actually support artists.
I regularly see people wondering how it's possible that there are so many musicians and writers and film makers and artists from a tiny nation like Iceland.

And the answer is really simple: State funding for art education and artists. I literally get a salary from the government to write books.
I’m constantly astounded at the sheer level of artistic production coming out of Iceland. Novels, movies, music. Amazing.

It would be swell if people would learn to listen SPECIFICALLY to Black Women when they tell you what’s coming and what’s at stake. This was all avoidable and NOBODY should be surprised.
It’s affirming that the good people of the United States have so clearly rejected Trump’s terror campaign and mass deportation. New data from Reuters:

Sorry to get radical but I don’t think it’s my job or yours to embrace, accept, understand - and certainly not to use - the thing being sold to us as AI. I don’t like any part of it, so I won’t. I’m missing out? Good, that’s what I want. You’re worried about me missing out? That’s fuckin weird, man.

If "AI" was being built, used, and planned for in responsible ways--the way a civilization designed to enhance human thriving would do--then a lot more people would be enthusiastic about its potential. But the people in charge of defining what AI will be are the fucking worst short-term scumbags.

Something I appreciate that feels unpopular in too many spaces is competency and command of knowledge. I want people in power who know how to wield it usefully and sustainably when they get it, right from day one.

Survivors told us from day one: follow the money. That is exactly what we intend to do.

The horror stories rolling in from Minnesota are just the tip of the iceberg. This 20-year-old, who's lawfully present in the country, was arrested for being Latino, then jailed in a filthy cell where he couldn't even sit down. 18 days of illegal detention. democracyforward.org/wp-content/u...

BETTER YET, LET'S GET THROUGH THE FUCKING MIDTERMS HAPPENING *THIS YEAR* BEFORE WE EVEN BEGIN TO START HAND-WRINGING OR FINGER-POINTING ABOUT WHO WE'LL NEVER VOTE FOR IN 2028.
Hey Bluesky, let’s have a frigging primary before we decide which end of the Democratic Party doesn’t vote for the other end’s candidate in the general.

THIS THIS THIS

like SO MANY anti-capitalist screeds on the internet are things i would just straightforwardly agree with if they were oriented around "greed is or at least contains the seeds of sin" instead of around "i'm angry at mom and dad"
The problem is that Internet Vulgar Marxist Discourse has increasingly replaced the word "greed" with the word "capitalism."

i think jesse jackson was one of the most important american political figures of the post-war era and i think that his 1984 and 1988 campaigns for the democratic nomination still have a great deal to teach about forging a path to a more egalitarian world. RIP.

Yep. In my youth, I experienced “Keep hope alive” as a punchline. It was years before I understood so much of who Rev. Jesse Jackson was.

You know what I love about Ossoff? His seriousness. His gravitas. That it always feels like he’s leveling with me. And he is not playing around.
Ossoff: "Among today's false prophets are the election deniers who indulge this president's obsession with overturning the 2020 election. Hear me when I say this -- they tell a lie so absurd, and therefore so debasing, that the act of telling it proves the teller's total and humiliating submission."

Shout out to Bill Clinton. Beat the Reagan-Bush machine in 92. Been curb stomping Republicans ever since. They mad at him because he fights as dirty as they do & they can’t beat him or Hillary. They also mad that he created an economy that helped single childless women. Scared the shit out of them.
We can totally shout out our favorite presidents today 😉
