The slowest production potter there ever was.

I found a toy rat outside the ceramics studio. He now lives on my shelf with all my other packrat stuff.

Monday morning glaze tests look promising, except for a few. Glaze changes in the studio aren’t always met with open arms but that’s okay. Materials change and studios need to adapt.

Finally, a day in the studio. I decided to make a few succulent planters, an incense burner and a new food dish for the dog.

Every now and then I have to sit down and throw a few bowls to let students know I have some pottery skills. There are always some doubters. These are for charity; my favorite reason to make bowls.

Stopped by the Adrian Center for the Arts letterpress studio to drop off a chase for my old Vandercook press. Since I’ll be in Adrian on a regular basis I purchased a membership.

Glazy 476538 (Cool Nebula) has just been made public from your friends at Washtenaw Community College, Ann Arbor, MI

I’ve been tasked with reorganizing the glaze layering test tiles. Displaying 100s of glaze tests on the wall can overwhelm new students. I created a more intimate and tactile experience. Samples are hands on so they can be viewed up close and personal.

Another glaze went public today on Glazy. It’s a Clara Giorello glaze. I replaced the South American ingredients with North American ingredients.

This is the famous Folk Art Guild White in reduction. I tweaked the recipe to make it more affordable.

I’m happy to see another successful glaze reformulation come out of the reduction kiln at WCC. The mug is student work.

I spent some time at an art reception at Matthaei Botanical Gardens. Mingling isn’t my strong suit so I found a comfortable chair by the bonsai and read my book.
January 26, 2025 at 9:52 PM
Today I am attending a reception at Matthaei Botanical Gardens for a community exhibition titled, “Wonders of Water”, 2-4pm.

Here are the three ceramic figures currently at the Adrian Center for the Arts Gallery. There is a reception today from 2pm to 4 pm. Unfortunately I will miss it to attend another reception.
