I see takes like this all the time, and it’s really just the triumph of a completely atomized politics of fandom. Voting isn’t fundamentally about what happens to Harris next year, it’s about what happens to *everyone*-who gets abortion care and who gets asylum and who gets a tax cut.

the main reason i don’t argue with people about voting on the internet is that if you don’t feel any particular obligation to exercise your right to self-government — if you don’t see it as simply a fundamental task of citizenship — then there’s nothing i can say to persuade you otherwise
