Introvert, knitter, writer, crafter, cranky American growing grumpier by the day.
On line (phone) for SSA estimated wait time 120 minutes, currently at 232min. They close in about 10 minutes I’m guessing I won’t reach a human today. Curious to know if they’ll just hang up or give me the chance to take the survey they’ve been nattering about for the last three and a half hours.

Oh dear you’re going to want to read this. Looks like DOGErs were caught exfiltrating NLRB data, likely on unions, for private (seemingly Elony) use. This is must read. What we’ve all suspected. But now details. www.npr.org/2025/04/15/n...
A whistleblower's disclosure details how DOGE may have taken sensitive labor data
A whistleblower tells Congress and NPR that DOGE may have taken sensitive labor data and hid its tracks. "None of that ... information should ever leave the agency," said a former NLRB official.

Cheryl is a veteran who lost her benefits because of DOGE.
Randy Fine & his GOP compatriots are the reason this is happening.

What I really want in this crazy time is to know that there are still principled, patriots who take their oaths to serve and protect seriously, still doing good works in government, like counting wolves in the wilderness regardless of the instruction that wolves are no longer interesting to the govt

It's a rare thing when a scientific journal retracts five articles by the same researcher at once - one of which is somehow about the role of bust size in hitchhiking.

Sounds like a case for the mysterious Feedback columnist at @NewScientist.com , who has been reading @jamesheathers.bsky.social
Is this the most glorious retraction notice a journal has ever made?
Feedback would like to bring to readers' attention the retraction of five psychology articles by Nicolas Guéguen, including a "field study" into "bust size and hitchhiking"

"Courts’ power of contempt — the inherent power to compel compliance with orders and punish actions that obstruct the administration of justice — is ultimately backstopped by their ability to jail people who defy their orders."
If the Marshals Go Rogue, Courts Have Other Ways to Enforce their Orders
Opinion | Even a rogue marshal’s service is not an insurmountable obstacle to courts enforcing the rule of law.
