Yeah it's tough doing any art these days, but especially long-form like a series, where unless it goes viral all you have to sustain it is your own enthusiasm. I think the two most important things are keeping the production process fun, and making sure each episode matters for you personally.

It's a tricky balance, because an important part of a sitcom is setting up patterns of the characters' lives, so when those patterns are disturbed it actually means something. You kind of need some "normal" eps for that to work, but they can be interesting in other ways. (sorry for the ramble)

I'm sure that's obvious but I forget sometimes. The fewer episodes you have, the more important the content of each one is. Every ep should bring something new-- a new side of a character, the world, production experimentation, etc. You never want to feel like you're making "another normal one."
