great article on the best Disney movie
One Hundred and One Dalmatians is a gorgeous film. After 65 years, its design is still fresh.

Disney's artists went for a new, adventurous look -- one that Walt Disney himself opposed. We explore how they did it: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/designing-...

animation for the next Sublo and Tangy Mustard episode is done! final things I'm working on:
-colouring a few shots
-QC (mostly hookup notes and anim tweaks)
-import final BGs and export
-it's not a music-heavy ep but there a few little stings and cues here and there I gotta do

I’m not in love with arguing like so many of yall. you telling me you disagree doesn’t move me to want to defend myself. I don’t care. it’s a waste of time. we are strangers!

one of the weirdest things about the current moment is how the national media have to pretend like they don't know what this is about. official government social media accounts are posting about racially cleansing America and they have to pretend like it's not clear who the bad guy is.

it's funny to see a conservative guy who constantly rails against woke but loves Devo and Peewee. man do you not get that Peewee was gay and Devo was like 90% protest songs

Also, when reporters start talking about the chatbots this way, it is imperative to remind them they are basically asking a toaster for comment. They should be a lot more embarrassed about this than they currently are.

“Grok told CNN…” no it didn’t. You typed stuff into an unreliable calculator.

The way the press is treating chatbots, like they have agency and they “know” things all of a sudden, crossed the line recently from dumb and obsequious to something else entirely. Treating them as alive and making conscious decisions is an almost religious belief. It won’t age well.

Is there any precedent for powerful people claiming that a nonsentient process has a personality behind it that only they and their fellow experts can understand and speak for and it knows everything and can do anything and wants to help and also it will destroy us if we dont give it what it wants

Whitlock made "Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit" into more than a quippy catchphrase. It's Clay Davis' ethos, a justifiably incredulous reaction illustrating how he, and often the audience, viewed the machinations of Baltimore. It's a pillar for the whole fully realized, wonderfully played character. #RIP
Isiah Whitlock Jr., ‘The Wire’ and ‘Veep’ Actor, Dies at 71
He appeared in several films for Spike Lee, including '25th Hour,' 'BlacKkKlansman' and 'Da 5 Bloods.'

is it funny to anybody else when someone compliments a piece of art, the artist says thanks and then the person says "you're welcome"

I ate a butter tart and boarded a 5 minute thing in 3 hours. it's just one static shot with scribbled acting thumbs, but still I thought that was gonna take longer. it's been a satisfying Sunday so far.

great thread of networking advice! I was asked about this by a student at a college talk recently and I said a lot of the same stuff. it's about connecting with people and making friends rather than seeing them as rungs on your career ladder.
SO, you want to network but don't know where to begin.

1. DON'T. Make friends instead
2. It's not about what they can do for you
3. Famous people are just people first
4. If you do have to gush, don't just say 'i love your work' , pick one thing and say why. Open ended compliments are awkward

Zero tolerance is the ONLY and FITTING response to genAI being used in production of media.

Sure, you might think it's too harsh. Sure, they might've only used it for early stuff in development, etc

Listen, it's not even a SLIPPERY slope, there is NO friction at all unless we speak out against it.
