So, I had some fun joking about yesterday being rapture day.
I want to be clear that I wasn't making fun of anyone's religious beliefs. I was making fun of people claiming God told them the rapture was happening 2 weeks ago, then, when it didn't they changed it to the last 2 days.

The M57 crawls along its route at as a dismal avg. speed of 4.9 mph, according to a report by @nyccomptroller.bsky.social.

Some New Yorkers can literally walk faster than this.

Buses are how more than a million New Yorkers get to work, school, job interviews and appointments.

Especially in outerborough neighborhoods with no subway service, they're a lifeline.

And today, 1 in 5 New Yorkers struggle to afford the fare. It doesn't need to be this way.

How do we speed buses up? There are plenty of tools already in the city's toolbox.

Just look at the 14th St busway.

And we've already seen the transformative impacts of eliminating the fare when we won and implemented a historic fare free bus pilot on one line in each borough.

Ridership went up. Assaults on operators went down. And people saved money.

I'm on the slowest bus line in the city with the slowest buses in the nation to talk to New Yorkers about what it would mean for their lives if we made them fast and free.

I do wonder what the point of being born into a wealthy and prosperous nation is if that wealth and prosperity isn't utilised in a way that makes life better for everyone living there. Wouldn't that make you proud to be (insert nationality)?

We gotta make this happen peeps! Resistance IS futile (in this case)!
