The namesake of the tower, Erastus Corning, was the founder and namesake of Corning, NY.

You will recognize some of the famous glass inventions/products from that city, such as Pyrex, Corelle, optical fiber for the internet, space craft windows, and so much more, even a 200-in diameter mirror!

Ich liebe dieses Kunstwerk. Sein warmer, orangefarbener Glanz hat etwas Faszinierendes.

The first photo in your grouping from the "cage-cup" [87.1.1] is a fine example of this unique style of glass art in the ancient Roman gallery.

One theory suggests that the ancient Romans used wooden wheel "lathes" to slowly carve a bas-relief cage on these cage-cups.

This is one of my favorite ancient artifacts at the Corning Museum of Glass.

Thee is a very interesting “gladiator cup” on display at the Corning Museum of Glass, though I do not believe I have found a cup/fragment like this with beautiful examples of ancient Roman painted designs

I am very intrigued by this artifact. I work at the Corning Museum of Glass and I have not come across something quite like this before!
