Trans. Back on TERF Island of Strangers. Married to a paragraph of the Squalid Chapter
The big question about the conference going ahead following legal advice is whether or not that advice has been given with inside knowledge of what Bridget Phillipson is planning to do with the EHRC guidance.

In England, registering births, marriages and deaths became compulsory in 1837. The schedules of the 1836 Act give the templates: registrars noted the “sex” of for the birth and death entries and the “condition” (e.g. bachelor/ spinster) for the marriages.

I agree, they're so unaware and complacent high up in the party, I remember one of their advisers describing Labour supporters as 'captive voters'. Awful policies and tactically naïve.

With Labour’s landslide and the Tories’ collapse, Labour genuinely had the possibility to be in power for a generation, even taking into account a lot of their votes being ‘anyone but Tories’. It's astonishing how they've managed to blow it.

My theory is that they were deliberately omitted to avoid drawing attention to Finnish and Swedish language sources. I also think it shows Kaltiala’s influence in the writing of the report.

Cass’s use of sources and referencing leaves much to be desired. She cites Swedish and Finnish guidelines in the main body of the report but doesn’t include them in the bibliography.

In the article, Peterson's daughter says one of the causes of his illness is mold exposure.

He looks like he went bobbing for apples in a tub of iodine.

Yes and no: they’d be at home in the Green Party and would be assets. But, too many Lab MPs defecting to Greens would create an ex-Lab MPs’ club within the party, which could be destabilising. Better for these Lab MPs to be independent but work with the Greens and poss. have an electoral pact.

They shouldn’t have formed a party: Corbyn and Sultana are already popular independent MPs and a new party could split the left, really not needed with Polanski now leading the Greens.

Strategically, Labour have been an absolute sh*tshow. They needed to oust Starmer & then do all the u-turns so the new leader could've separated themselves ideologically & given the party an extra boost in addition to the new PM boost. It's really too late for them & can only blame themselves.

"I'm not in favour of the death penalty but I'd like to have an open debate about it" is taking us in one direction only.

Other thoughts:
1. Worth an FOI abt how many candidates?
2. The turn around: hearing 01/07; letter 02/07. Committees either half-expected her not to be up to it/ really not impressed on the day.
3. The request to be more involved in appointment process = ‘don’t blame us’ & poss. have people in mind

Lots to read between the lines in the letter, but not specifying trans people is surely deliberate and to avoid us (and them) getting dragged into a culture war feeding frenzy

As it says "Articles", it makes me wonder if this typo is because of an earlier draft in which they cited 2+ articles.

In the context of this RSHE guidance being published now (before appointing Falkner’s successor; before the EHRC concludes its consultation process & subsequent Code of Practice/ guidance; and how the govt then chooses to implement all of that), this does not appear to bode well for trans people.

Thank you for the analysis… useful but grim reading.

He’ll do the Starmer thing… get Phillipson to make the appointment and then, depending on the audience, either own the decision or blame her for it.

If she doesn't like crossing the road on a trans flag, maybe she can keep on walking until she finds a bigot flag to use instead.
