Similar to my post about "liberation means even for that annoying guy you hate" - weird art includes art you personally don't get, don't like, wouldn't spend money on, find unsettling. Games you wouldn't play. Books you wouldn't read. Decommercialise your preconceptions of what art deserves to exist
Everyone saying "make weird art!" you better fucking mean it. There better not be an unspoken "but not too weird" tacked on at the end.

There's plenty of leftists who are just as bad as conservatives when it comes to "Well I want rights for me, who/what I am, and my interests, but those guys? Nah"

It's kinda a reason I don't like the idea of left/right and see politics through a lens of more, or less rights for people.

Ngl if you’re a leftist who is still a part of the whole ‘anti-proship’ ‘anti-problematic fiction’ ‘anti-kink’ movements: you need to grow the fuck up.

It’s worrying to see so many queer artist blindly repeat conservative talking points/insults without even realizing it.
In a lot of ways other leftists chose this path folks. They shrugged and didn’t care when Patreon banned a ton of hypnosis and TF creators, or when YouTube started their ASMR crackdown. Now it’s coming for queer porn creators, more and more. Who will stand up?

Spoke to my source familiar with internal workings at Mastercard. The holiday call campaign re payment processor censorship is working, there is a lot of pressure being felt from your calls. This is resulting in increased response times at a core moment for Mastercard due to the holiday season

Feels like it should be bigger news that a journalist known for being loud about her investigations into banks/payment processors appears to be getting financially stonewalled by the entire industry unaminously right now.
The full count as of today:

YouTube suspended
Twitch banned 3x
Patreon suspended (temporary)
Patreon 3x audio flags (one false posi)
Ko-fi suspended (indefinite?)
Buy Me a Coffee suspended
Vice reporting censored
Pornhub censored 3x times
Fansly censored 1x
Is it really a conspiracy to say Ana is being explicitly flagged by finance bros when she's now been banned (or censored) from Twitch, Patreon, Buy Me A Coffee, Ko-Fi, and *PornHub*??

i think the late 2010s & early 2020s revealed to a lot of people that grifting is super common, but this has resulted in a kind of overcorrection of grifting paranoia. everyone always fears someone is trying to sell them something. and tapping into that grifting paranoia can also be a kind of grift

Great points from OP, I also think we’re approaching a “post-cancelation” era in the sense that people kind of realize the “cancelation” is a lot of outrage for little return. Think how many times I’ve been canceled and how I’m still on your TL, moving right along
It's also great at galvanizing those in the attacking group to resist new information and perspectives, because aknowledging they were misinformed would mean accepting they harrassed an innocent person over a non-issue, something most people are too cowardly to do.

It's almost like video games are a new enough medium that Hillary Clinton blaming games for rl violence, Jack Thompson, Night Trap, Mortal Kombat, Rule Of Rose, GTA hot coffee and the Pokemon satanic panic all happened within 15 years prior to Anita's dogshit series about video games. Gee, I wonder.

Oh my god, people are still doing the "Why are you following this artist who draws __" on twitter? Glad I'm not as active there anymore, I can control what I interact with, it's so weird when people guilt other people to do the same as them.

Even when you're trying to stick within bounds with your adult art, it's a censorship minefield out there. You can't post hypnosis on Patreon or have two teenagers kiss on Steam. And the UK is set to ban "choking" as a concept
I hate how censorious the internet is getting. I just want to make my audios in peace. Nothing I’m creating is harming anybody. I feel so frustrated. Banned from YouTube, censored by PornHub, censored on Fansly, temp banned multiple times on Twitch, audios pulled from Patreon, it‘s insane

if youre canadian, its a very good idea to be contacting your representatives in govt about Bill S-209, and stressing that age verification policies do not protect people, and in fact make them less safe.

I think this is also correct. A lot of queer games journalists who are quietly porn-critical don’t realize their readership tends to consume significant amounts of queer and kinky pornography. If you spend all your life playing games, eventually you also want to see what the porn games are like
A lot of game journalists are antiporn/anti-sexwork moral scolds, in approximate mold of Farley (with a touch of Dworkinoid nonsense or hooksian judgemental paranoid insidiousness depending on education background and personal idiosyncrasy)

They think that games CAN induce rape and misogyny
October 19, 2025 at 2:21 PM
For the past 10+ years, most of them have been claiming that censorship of sexual or otherwise "controversial" content/fiction by non-legislative means "isn't real" because they believed everyone criticising said censorship was a conservative. They're too proud to admit they were wrong.
In your personal opinion, why are so many games journalists allergic to the payment processor / adult content censorship issue impacting gaming?

Let’s get very 101 here. Why are so many games journalists ignoring this issue?
