I seem to have picked up quite a few new followers this weekend, hi! I'm trying to use this place more than the other, so I hope we interact.

From me you'll mainly see posts and shared content about museums, books (especially science fiction), and science.
A Tom Gauld cartoon: figures stand and sit around a room cooking, hanging a picture, re-organising the bookcase, hoovering, scrolling on their phone. A woman has arrived at the door and is being told "No, the writers' workshop is next door: this is the writers' procrastinationshop"

Sad to hear about the passing of Jane Goodall, I had the absolute joy of seeing her speak recently at a Science Museum event and without notes or hesitation she was sharp, funny, every story perfectly formed, in a way I struggle to be now let alone at 91! www.theguardian.com/science/2025...

Some good news.

London is meeting legal limits for toxic NO2 pollution for the first time – almost 200 years earlier than predicted – following the Mayor’s "world leading air pollution policies," City Hall announces.

The Ultra Low Emissions Zone - and similar policies - really do work.

Congratulations! 💀

Had a beautiful day at @sipwiltshire.bsky.social today visiting the brilliant teams who look after our collections in storage, you would not know that it is October tomorrow - it was almost t-shirt weather!
The Welcome building of the Science and Industry Park near Wroughton outside Swindon, the home to the Science Museum Group archives and stores. A curved metal and glass building above a landscaped bank of wildflowers under a bright blue sky dotted with clouds as the sun begins to set.

The team have done a fantastic job with our new Space Gallery, the objects look gorgeous - these photos almost don't do them justice! - and some great stories woven throughout. We are now the only museum in the world where you can see an Apollo command module alongside a Soyuz module.🚀

Visitors stand in the Science Museum's new Space gallery, observing an Apollo 10 command module, a Soyuz space capsule and a spacesuit. Also prominent are a 3D projection of the Moon and large rocket and satellite components.
Two visitors look at a large Saturn rocket thruster and a section of the BepiColombo spacecraft in the Science Museum's Space gallery.
Two visitors to the Science Museum's Space gallery sit on a bench, observing and pointing at a 3D projection of the Earth that appears suspended in the air. Another visitor observes from a standing position. A background wall shows the surface of the Moon.
A visitor to the new Space gallery at the Science Museum stands looking at Helen Sharman's spacesuit, white with blue and red trim and with a Union Flag patch visible on its left arm. In the background are the Soyuz space capsule, another visitor examining it, and its draping parachute.

Delighted to finally reveal the new SPACE gallery at London's @sciencemuseum.org.uk!
It was a pleasure to help - providing what may well be the largest photo of the🌖on🌎!
The gallery is stunning, and it's so special to see the Apollo 10 Command Module alongside Soyuz.

The @sciencemuseum.org.uk is opening a space gallery later this week. To celebrate, I filmed why Hawking kept a beach ball on his desk: I blow up the universe, then show how it captured the faint fingerprints of quantum jitters that seeded cosmic structure! www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYud...
