I’ve not met the guy personally but everything I’ve learned about him has been about his local work helping people in Maine for years. Maine is a super rural state with not that many people. A town here bullied an actual nazi out of the state.
I am sorry that this whole deal offended a lot of people. I totally think people are valid for having those feelings. But calling this man a nazi is utterly absurd.
I moved to Maine after living near Harrison, Arkansas (The Most Racist Town in America) and I had no idea that particular skull and crossbones tattoo was a hate symbol. And I used to have to go to a grocery store passing a sign for an actual white nationalist radio show.

Honestly @grahamformaine.bsky.social going under the literal needle for the American people is kinda based af. Like the man heard your criticism, took accountability, and made a meaningful change.

We just saw how rural Mainers would be affected by having to travel IN PERSON to register their newborns for SS? Please explain how this bill would not be similarly as onerous to Elderly and Rural Mainers?
Some claim that requiring proof of citizenship is too onerous a burden, or that it will "disenfranchise" those whose names have changed for reasons like marriage (or divorce). The truth is the SAVE Act ensures name changes will not prevent anyone from registering to vote.

I was 4 when Columbine happened.

I was 11 when the first abortion ban was upheld by the Supreme Court

I was 17 when Trayvon was killed in cold blood and his killer was shielded from consequences.

I was 21 when nazis marched at my father’s Alma Mater and killed a counter-protester 1/

We had 200 events last week during congressional recess - most of them "missing member" town halls in GOP districts and states.

Next up is the April 5th "Hands Off!" mobilization. Already 600(!) events on the map.

This is everywhere. It's not going away. And it's building.

I’d also be grateful for someone else to do my job for me while I sit on my butt and do nothing.
I’m grateful to the courts for this ruling and I hope to see many of these public servants back on the job as soon as possible.

@golden.house.gov knows that’s what good to the US workforce is good for its government too! Just like US companies outsource their work to other countries, he is outsourcing his work to the courts. That way he can sit home and relax!

They just pulled MILLIONS from the University of Maine and you are just going to bow down and take it?! You are a coward and should be ashamed of yourself.

My health care provider lost funding and had to put people on furlough. Several friends of mine who just started federal jobs are now unemployed. The only reason you kept your seat was because you promised the folks downeast that you’d protect our rights. We see you doing nothing.

God this is fucking tragic. But hey I guess clawing your way out of poverty to dedicate your life to cancer research isn’t a good use of federal funds according to Elon.
Just in case you thought that removing DEI criteria would mean that everyone is competing equally: NIH is removing grad students from underrepresented backgrounds from the applicant pool altogether. Their applications will not be considered. Other students, not from these backgrounds, will be.
