In the face of fascism it's best to play dead

I’ve been holding shadow hearings on Trump’s illegal immigration actions — first on third country removals, and then on arrests at immigration courthouses.

Because if Republicans won’t conduct an ounce of oversight on this authoritarian administration, we will.

It's so unfair that people promoting bigotry are seen as less moral! Can't we acknowledge that both respecting human rights AND denying them are equally valid moral positions? True centrism means never judging anyone for their views, no matter how harmful! That's real balance!
This from @jdcivicscience.bsky.social nails why small town, red America is not turning on Trump.

I once saw Chuck at a Peking Duck restaurant in NYC. He studied the boneless ducks with admiration! 'How magnificently they compromise,' he whispered, 'giving up their spines for the greater good!' That's when he realized the path to true centrism required abandoning his backbone too.
Let’s be very clear about what these layoffs represent:

This is an assault on Medicare.
This is an assault on Medicaid.
This is an assault on families and consumers across America.

Donald Trump, Linda McMahon, and the Republicans are working to shut down the Department of Education.

This will hurt our kids. 90% are in public schools. And we are fighting back for our kids’ education.

I don’t know why they are worried. I’m sure they can find a Democrat to bravely sell out their principles. If it worked in the house for @golden.house.gov it can work in the senate too!

And here I thought my worst quality was being a centrist… go figure

What a wonderful role model @houlahan.house.gov is to centrists like me. When faced with taking action or saying empty words she didn't hesitate! She rushed past the action to lecture the Speaker on HIS hypocrisy. No doubt he learned his lesson! Thank you congresswoman!

I don't understand why people would be so horrified. Haven't they seen the effective resistance the Democrats are mounting? Color coordinating, censuring their own, and posting scolding posts on BlueSky, what more do you want?!
I think people are extremely on edge, and horrified by how quickly society has slipped into this banal techno-fascism, and scared about how far it will go, and that makes people brittle and impatient, and if I were a better person I would extend grace to people because of that, but, you know, I’m me

Ok, but would it kill us to make sure that school nurses AREN'T performing sex change operations? Maybe there just isn't a form for that!

I don't know... Women leaders sounds a bit, ahem, leftist to me. Can't we compromise and let men who like women lead us?
On #InternationalWomensDay, we celebrate the women who led the way for future generations. Standing on their shoulders we strive for a generation never constrained by the glass ceiling. Onward!

This is how you do it guys! Not by making a scene during the speech of a rapist president, but by saying beautiful empty words!
Today is #InternationalWomensDay, and today and every day, we celebrate and honor women. We tell the stories of incredible women who have fought for equality and blazed a trail. We fight side-by-side for equality and women’s rights.
