Great to see coverage of @exeterassembly.bsky.social's Cool Hub initiative yesterday, providing water and a place to cool down in Exeter city centre.

This initiative serves as a key example of the need for community adaptation in response to the climate crisis.

Appreciate the opportunity to write my first article with @uk.theconversation.com during the @gsiexeter.bsky.social Global Tipping Points Conference which reinforced the need to rapidly respond to climate tipping by leveraging positive tipping in our social, technical and environmental systems

What a week @Global Tipping Points conference @gsiexeter.bsky.social

From stark warnings on very-near climate tipping points to identifying feedback loops, system rules (in finance, markets and culture) and mindset change we need for climate action 🌍

Heavy-hearted but determined & inspired ✊

BBC journalist Ashley Lime, based in Kenya, spoke at the Exeter Climate Conference yesterday about how climate change is an acute issue for Africa, affecting health, food security and economies, and how culture and tradition plays a role in shaping perceptions.

⤵️ 👀 she describe what gives her hope.

We’re into the last day at the Global Tipping Points Conference. A great week of panels, talks and workshops discussing tipping points in physical and human systems. Some of it a bit scary, but always some hope that there is still time for change. #GTPConference

Myles Allen with a straight forward message: To stop climate change, companies must stop selling stuff that cause global warming. @gsiexeter.bsky.social
Delivering Geological Net Zero
• After 2050, you can't sell stuff that causes global warming.
• So, if you're selling stuff that is causing global warming today, you have 25 years to fix it
- by capturing and permanently storing one tonne of carbon dioxide for every tonne generated by your activities and the products you sell.
• And no pinkie promises just to stop selling that stuff in 2049.
