The Solidarity and Migration Conference is drawing to a close after a day of insightful conversation and connecting dots across disciplines and geographies.

Today, while talking about the importance of listening to local voices and communities we also, on the opposite end of the spectrum, discussed how to model leadership. For example, the concept of inclusion, such as not differentiating between who is local and who is not when providing healthcare services. If leaders model this behavior, it then percolates throughout the community. We also spoke about the idea of positive triangulations and using commonalities between different people to build constituency across difference rather that particularizing in one community. Jacqueline Bhabha, JD, MSc, FXB Director of Research. Today, in some ways, we spoke about methodologies as the ways in which we learn. We heard about mediating institutions, from schools and churches to local folks - who we do not typically think about as institutions. I saw us trying to make transparent and explicit the questions we are asking of ourselves and our communities. How do we plan for solidarity to happen? How do we move at the pace of trust? How do we learn solidarity, for whom, and from whom? What kinds of patterns of solidarity do we identify across time and place? Sarah Dryden-Peterson, EdD, MA, MPhil
