As the 30th Anniversary of the gun massacre of 16 children and their teacher at Dunblane Primary School approaches, we thank those who led the successful campaign to ban the private ownership of handguns in Great Britain.

This week, we noted 18 firearm reports, including a man trying to convert blank-firers into lethal guns. One of the first cases in the UK where a person was convicted as though the high quality and readily convertible guns were live-firing weapons.

GCN sends sympathy to all those affected by the tragic shooting in Sydney. We note the weapons used were licensed and support the Australian public in demanding tighter legislation on licensed gun ownership. We continue to work to keep the public safe from gun harm here in GB.

This week, we noted 23 firearm reports, including two incidents in Huddersfield during which one man was seriously injured. GCN continues to work for a safer society where there are #fewerguns and less gun violence.

In November we noted 90 firearm reports in GB, including 3 inquests on men who took their own lives with a legally held shotgun. A gun in the home is associated with an increased risk of gun suicide – licensed doesn’t mean safe.

This week, we noted 22 firearm reports, including a 9-year-old girl seriously injured with an air rifle in Leicester. Airguns are cheap, accessible and lethal. We continue to campaign to have them licensed in Eng & Wales.

This week, we noted 18 firearm reports, including the tragic death of a teenage boy shot with an airgun in Hampshire. Airguns are cheap, accessible and lethal. We continue to campaign to have them licensed in Eng & Wales.

This week, we noted 22 firearm reports. One woman was shot with a BB gun and another threatened with an Airsoft gun. These guns can be bought by criminals and those with mental health problems and alcohol & substance abuse issues.

We welcome the launch in Cumbria of Crimestoppers’ excellent public safety initiative relating to firearms. It ensures that anyone with concerns about someone who has access to a gun can raise their worries anonymously by phone or online.

In October we noted 102 firearm reports in GB, including 6 of animal cruelty/death. Imitation, Airsoft, airguns & BB guns are not licensed in Eng or Wales but are responsible for gun injuries to both humans and animals

This week, we noted 19 firearm reports including a man sentenced for possessing a converted blank-firing gun.
Recent reports indicate that converted handguns are fired more than ‘real’ weapons in UK crimes.

This week, we noted 28 firearm reports including a man threatening to shoot a neighbour with a BB gun in Staffordshire. The threat from the realistic weapon left the victim suffering nightmares and anxiety.

In September we noted 89 firearm reports in Great Britain, including 27 of illegal possession. There are too many guns in GB, some of which find their way into criminal hands with tragic results.

Licensing would be a first step towards the inevitable banning of driven grouse shooting. Any 'sport' or business that relies upon crime to exist needs to go.
It has to be time to license grouse moors - and for national parks to do more to put their house in order. The situation in the #YorkshireDales is shameful.
Natural England confirms ongoing & relentless illegal persecution is reason why Hen Harriers are still rare in England.
