Apparently it's trying to "stem the flood of misinformation" on the other place. It's an interesting conundrum - the BBC should be where the audiences are. But when a platform repeatedly proves itself toxic, what's the best course of action? www.theguardian.com/media/2026/j...

Point taken. But targeting low cost airlines feels like blaming people on lower incomes. When, as the article points out, the business and first class passengers have a far larger carbon footprint. Making rail a viable alternative would help. Costs are currently too high and duration too long.

Oddly, the article's conclusion is there should be fewer, more expensive flights. When low cost airlines are actually leading the way in efficient flying which has a lower environmental impact. Worth noting that aviation generates only slightly more CO2 than shipping (both <2%). Road transport 12%.

Incidents in Romania and Brazil also had similarities - with pyrotechnics and acoustic foam involved there as well. One wouldn't want to second guess the Swiss investigation, but it does seem that the same mistakes are being repeated. Venues need to be safer, staff trained better and pyro banned.

Isak as the new Robbie Keane? Or the old Darwin Nuñez? In any case, hope it works out for him at Anfield. Because that would be *very* good for the team.

Makes ya wonder what that pursuit of Isak was all about. Turn back time and get a Diaz replacement instead?

This post-fact era we're living in is a real pain, isn't it?

If Hammersmith Bridge is anything to go by, much of the traffic will "evaporate". I remember this from the late 90s, and it seems a similar phenomenon has occurred with the current, ongoing closure. www.barnes-ca.org/community-bl...

That's an MI6 thing, right?

Bless them. So short of public transport links, local amenities, etc. Here's an idea: they could relocate somewhere more suitable for car use.

Perhaps they're Serb diaspora. Because the leafblower is the prime disturber of the peace in Belgrade parks. If only they were so keen about clearing up after their dogs.

Who is behind the Marylebone Association? And what loon would actually want to drive a car down Oxford street?

It was You Trip Me Up on the Max Headroom Show that did it for me. Extraordinary. Sounded like the shrieking of a thousand trains braking as they pulled into an enclosed station with a glass roof.

Really enjoyed reading that. If I lived in the UK, I'd take you up on a seat at the Brit Funk table. One addition to the "musical promiscuity" list: Beggar's Mel Gaynor played stadiums with some Scottish outfit, originating possibly the most famous snare fill of the 80s. youtu.be/CdqoNKCCt7A?...

I did a Tall Story for Monocle Radio's programme/podcast The Urbanist a while back. Looking at the history of Vjesnik Tower - inspired by Lever House in New York, no less - and its more recent sorry state. youtu.be/M0fTBxjup2g?...
