It was my (adopted) Da‘s anniversary today. It’s sad that I‘m Not sure if it’s 20 or 21 or 22 years. I’m not much good with these things. I didn‘t have a great relationship with him. He tried to live his dreams vicariously through me and it didn’t fit.

Communist, Quaker (ish), smoker… brandy in coffee at 11am (medicinal comforts), gin after 5pm (sun over the yard arm), gave me more love, inspiration and beliefs than my uninterested parents. Died aged 87. I put a pack of cigarettes on her coffin before it disappeared. The crematorium staff laughed.

It was amazing. But those of us who were lucky enough to be in the trial are now wondering if we will qualify again or whether we’ll end up on social welfare in between gigs or not as the case maybe. It’s a worry right now. And that’s 2000 folk worrying what the new scheme qualification is… yeah.
