And find out they're Feds?

As Dr Stea points out, most people turn to alternative medicine because the mainstream system fails.

Was Harvey Kellogg seen as mainstream medicine or alternative medicine back then? Or were there no distinctions ?

Yes it does. So does taking prescription drugs unsafely with no advice on tapering.

Not any more. I thought naturopathy was medicine that focuses on the natural stuff like natural medicine, sleep and exercise.

Fair points. I fell into the capitalism defending trap of associating everything money with capitalism.

I've tried homeopathy for months and it was BS. I grew disillusioned when my naturopath recommended I order the products cheap on Amazon from a French company.

It's not so simple as capitalism vs nature. How does one obtain most medicines, natural and pharmaceutical? Through purchase, capitalism.

Furthermore some alternative medicine is not even natural. Homeopathy is sugar pills manufactured in France. I know because I took them for a few months.

If "military and insurance companies have been fooled by fraudsters" does that discredit their other forms of medicine?

I read the article start to finish and I found it fascinating. I learned new facts about @joannamoncrieff.bsky.social 's life, work, and purpose. I didn't find the article uncritical, it quoted several other psychiatrists' criticism of her work.

Wow OP who is most definitely not a TTI survivor nor knows anyone who went made a post whitewashing the history of the industry, then blocked me for calling out her BS. These people are pathetic.

1 you gotta be kidding me. I have lost months of my life, friendships, education, and my 16th birthday to the programs.

2 yes because the programs were perfectly legal and supported until a few years ago

3 you posted a false description to the articles point

None of these points are accurate, you're fundamentally misunderstanding what they're saying.

They are not denying the abuses that happened in these programs. What they are saying is that calling these facilities "alternative" therapies paints them as lacking an institutional support that they/

absolutely had.

Many of the parents who found these programs were referred to them by mainstream institutions, such as judges and school guidance counselors, and the mainstream American psychological industry considered some of them as legitimate psychiatric institutions.

I don't know what your sister says about you, but I wouldn't believe it any way. You matter. Stay alive and stay strong.

Our lead therapist would push medications and "evidence-based therapy" and villify people who were skeptical as crazy. The program was licensed and approved by the givernment. There's nothing "alternative" about the TTI. @nicktaber.bsky.social

How about you understand that Troubled Teen Industry programs were mainstream and never "alternative"? Because my program was certified by the state, inspected and passed. Our program director was a huge pill pusher who insulted alternative medicine.
