I genuinely don’t understand how it is possible for a president to personally sue organizations while in office and force payoffs into his post-presidency coffers, but no one can sue him personally because the Supreme Court decided he has absolute immunity. What am I missing?

I’m thinking about him today. I hope he’d be proud of me. I hope my sense of citizenship has lived up to his.

Union Pacific has been endangering and interfering with school children and their parents as they try to get to and from school for decades. I’ve worked in East End schools. I know. Pols and district folks have tried repeatedly to broker solutions. UP always waits them out.

Houston, El Paso, San Antonio, even Dallas are far from disasters. We have blue city strongholds. But these state laws affect all of us, Austinites included.

And isn’t that the plan? My home state of Texas has underinvested in public education, child welfare, youth detention, and every other system touching our state’s children for decades. Our national ranking in % college grads is abysmal — by design. Ignorance serves antidemocratic movements. #texas
