The key difference between the left and the centre is that (many) liberals philosophically reject the idea that democratic rights extend into the workplace
They imagine that “democracy” is something you do once every four years at a ballot box, then you return to a workplace run like a dictatorship

It's not even capitulation, this is what Canada has always been: a resource colony for imperial powers. A junior partner in imperialism at best. Dress it up any way you want it, but without endless resource extraction Canada's economy collapses. Settlers aren't even citizens, they are subjects.
