Next year London City will consult on plans which will allow bigger planes like the A320neo to use the airport by flying lower on arrival.

HACAN East has just published a report comparing the A320neo with the other aircraft, including smaller planes.

A powerful video about what it is like to live in Leytonstone in NE London under both the Heathrow and London City flight paths and call for a break from the noise when the flightpaths are reorganised over the next couple of years.

Today there will be demonstrations across Europe and beyond calling for an end to night flights. We have made this short video saying why we believe night flights are unnecessary:

An email we received from a resident in NE London who is overflown by both Heathrow and London City planes. He feels 'broken and helpless' because of the constant noise.

The sooner respite is introduced so residents get a break from the noise, the better.

The key to being able to cope with aircraft noise is to have long periods of respite, says Linda, a Leytonstone resident. We are calling for respite to be built into London City's plans when it revises its flight paths over the next couple of years.

London City concentrated its flight paths in 2015 meaning the same communities got all the planes. Now City will be looking to alternate the flight paths to give communities a break from the noise. We will be pressing for bold, creative solutions to ease the burden on residents.

The end of London City's concentrated flight paths could be in sight. Yesterday Government confirmed UKADS, the body which will co-ordinate the flight path changes in London & SE, will be set up by NATS. Public consultation likely 2026. www.gov.uk/government/p... (thread)

London City wants to attract bigger planes. Since they could not land as steeply as the current planes, it has asked the CAA permission for these planes to land at a shallower angle. City hopes by using bigger planes it can increase passengers but limit growth in flights. Public consultation 2026.

This was a tremendous UECNA webinar last night

Dr Jamie Banks, President of Quiet Communities USA, outlined a fascinating survey they did of the attitudes towards aircraft noise of communities impacted by it. One which can be repeated by all communities.

Luton Airport expansion forced through by UK Government. It rejected the recommendation of the Planning Inquiry to refuse Britain's 4th largest airport permission to double its passenger numbers. A key reason for refusal was extra noise.

It's unclear at this stage. Yes, the noise will be measured probably by the airport.
