Woke 2 is supporting the NS-UP merger because it sets us on a path to inevitable railway nationalization

These people are afraid to ride trains, and regularly go on TV to admit this

I’m in favor of converting it to a museum on the horrors of American fascism

Which made it impossible to use my Eurail pass lol. The attendant seemingly had never heard of such a thing when I tried to explain it to her in my admittedly limited Spanish. Fortunately the ticket was only a couple euro.

I don’t have a great photo of the access but this is the street view and a photo from the platform at Esteiro where I stopped for the night last fall. If there are any reduced mobility cows they’ll have excellent access.

I love the branding on these trains. Depending on which part of Renfe’s website you’re on, they might be called Regional or Media Distancia. The trains used to all say FEVE on them (the stations still do), though now they all have Cercanias wraps. Even when they’re running 7 hour intercity trips.

And the stations are so close together. Also, every single one of them has a high level platform, which is like… not a thing anywhere else in Spain. Even on mainlines. But all the hundreds of FEVE stations have them, even when they’re literally in the middle of the woods or a cow pasture.

Prosecuting the people who make the echo chambers. Murdochs, Musk, Zuckerberg, etc.

The Galicia ones are also the only regional trains in the country that have their windows kept clean

Designing transit for non-transit users is the classical flaw of North American planning, and it is always self defeating
January 23, 2026 at 9:24 PM
If you’ve ever been to an HSR station you’ll know that the vast majority of passengers arrive by local transit. And those that want to can still easily get taxis or rideshare to the station. You’re making a hypothetical claim that’s at odds with observable reality.

Passholder reservations for Most high speed trains in Spain can be bought online now. But you can’t choose a seat at all if you do it that way, and some trains just aren’t available for whatever reason.

It was hit side on, and the FR 1000 did fairly well. Most casualties were on the Renfe S120 where the front two cars were obliterated. Conceivably a power car design would have had fewer casualties. Making the safety claim about the FR 1000 instead of the S120 lays clear what the motive is.

Union is the most accessible part of the entire metro area…. Especially since by the time this opens GO Expansion will also be completed. Im sure there will also be peripheral stations for suburban residents.

Because going city center to city center is a huge part of what makes intercity rail appealing, and what makes it competitive against flying when the journey times themselves are not.

Josh is the one player you don’t move under any circumstance. When you have one of the top 3 QBs on the planet, who obviously wants more than anything to win a championship for Buffalo, you don’t give that up.
