One of many small theaters in Lubbock, the Winchester was where I saw Annie, E.T., and Back To The Future.

It's now a Market Street (bougie grocery store.) Last I saw, the windmill was still there. I hope it still is.
B&W poster advertising the grand opening of the Winchester theater in Lubbock, TX on Thursday Aug 18, 1966. It opened with Doctor Zhivago. A photo from 1998 of the Winchester Twin showing Blues Brothers 2000 and Spiceworld. By this time, I was living a couple towns away, going to university & working at the Cinemark in my college town.

Today's doodle:
A white page filled with black scribbles. Where the lines intersect, the corners have been rounded off, creating a kind of abstract web. The same design as before, now done in shades of purple and blue, with light blue zentangle patterns in all of the spaces created by the tangled web.

How it started . . . How it's going.
A drawing of an ear with several piercings: a medium-size gauge on the bottom, a small gauge above that, and a stud earring on top, to which is attached a chain that connects to a hoop around the center of the ear, and then again to another hoop at the top of the ear. The larger bottom gauge has a couple of rings through it, one of which has a dangly earring on it, and another that is just plain. All the jewelry is depicted in plain silver. A photo of an ear with a very similar jewelry set up to the drawing. The bottom hole has a medium (0) gauge silver tunnel, with a black ring through it and a silver star dangling from that. The second hole is a smaller (4) gauge black tunnel, and above that is a silver star, with chains connecting to the two hoops on the upper ear. Now that I'm looking at them side by side, I can see that the top hoop needs to be a little bit smaller, but other than that, I am quite pleased with the results.

This has nothing to do with the holidays. It's a mannequin in a shop window, wearing an Alphonse Mucha inspired Stevie Nicks t-shirt, underneath a brown suede coat with faux-fur trim, that looks like one that Willow wore in Season 3 of Buffy. Below and in front of the mannequin is a sign that says "30% OFF tote bag plus everything inside" Behind her is a stack of colorful kantha quilts.

Are those shipping containers on a dock? That's the coolest photo I've seen all week!
At first I thought this was some kind of cool geometric abstract art installation in a bar or something, with teal walls and pendant lights hanging in front of it. In actuality, it seems to be a bird's-eye view of a cargo ship & a dock, all loaded with colorful shipping containers.
