The Father of Robotics, Dr. Thomas Light, has revolutionized industry with his advancements in robotic cognition. His latest creations, the Robot Master line, represent the pinnacle of his achievement to date. However, he considers his greatest accomplishment to be the artificial children he made, named Rock & Roll. His old partner, Dr. Albert Wily, hijacked his industrial models and turned them against the world. Seeing his family in pain, Rock made the choice to be weaponized and emerged as... Mega Man" "Previously, in the pages of Archie's Mega Man... Dr. Wily fooled the world into believing he had redeemed himself, regaining Dr. Light's and the public's trust. However, after a long con, and with the help of Light's first son, Break Man, Wily had hijacked one of Dr. Light's greatest creations, Gamma. Mega Man defeated his brother and offered redemption, but the confused Break Man refused. The battle against Wily was fierce, but at the end, Mega Man was just barely victorious. Unable to move, and with Wily's castle collapsing around them, Mega Man was helpless to save Dr. Wily -- or himself. However, Break Man rescued Mega Man and returned him home. But Dr.Wily survived, pulled out of the rubble and rebuilt by the enigmatic Mr. X. Now he seeks his revenge from the shadows. Once again he has manipulated Break Man to his evil schemes, and kidnapped the daughter of Dr. Light's good friend, Dr. Mikhail Cossack. Unable to bear the guilt, Break Man looked to his friend, Quake Woman, for help. Now with Dr. Wily's lies confirmed, he has discarded the name Break Man and seeks atonement as Proto Man. With Dr. Wily thought dead and the world at peace, Mega Man considered retirement to live as Rock. However, Mega Man is compelled to spring into action once again by a television broadcast from Dr. Cossack: 'The world must be made aware of my genius! From my Siberian citadel, I've sent eight of my most powerful robots to destroy the titanium troublemaker, Mega Man. Once they have eliminated him, I will place his broken body on display for the world to see. Only then will I be allowed to take my place as the greatest robot designer of all time.'
