Here's every game I played in 2025, starting with #DynastyWarriorsOrigins. I've played 50 hours (and counting) and yeah, I dug the hell out of it.

Perfect entry point for newcomers, but if you're a long time fan this is nothing less than a second coming.

Full review soon!

#DigimonStoryTimeStranger will undoubtedly get lost in the noise around that other big game coming out this week, but I really hope JRPG sickos discover it down the line.

Story, visuals, meaty RPG systems to dig into; this one's legitimately got it all.

if you're looking for a great horror game to play during spooky season, look no further.

The Excavation of Hob's Barrow is a whopping 50% off on Steam! Tis the perfect time to nab a folk horror bargain as we approach the spooky season! ⛏️💀🪱

90% of when people say stuff like "oh I was into that thing but then I grew out of it", what they really mean to say is being employed in a late capitalist economy has drained them of their desire and ability to enjoy things.

Anima from that game is still the most viscerally terrified I've been of a videogame monster

I have long maintained that The Evil Within 2 is the modern Silent Hill game everyone says they want (obviously now we have an ACTUAL modern SH but TEW2 remains fantastic)

Also special shoutout to LUTO from this year. Too fresh right now but will very likely be the answer to this question in a few years.

Scariest game while actively playing it:
The Evil Within 2

Scariest game that continues to haunt my thoughts and make me feel like shit (complimentary):
The Excavation of Hob's Barrow
(and to some extent also The Evil Within 2)

someone JUST has to make Jalopy-but-with-spaceships, man. I want to pick up a shitty hyperdrive from a dude behind a diner. I want a cockpit dashboard cluttered with loose cans and toolboxes.

This is the correct cadence of playing every Supergiant game. I'm still mad they never released Pyre on switch because I want it on every platform

so far it's a tie between The Alters and Silent Hill f

Equally heinous an affront is me not having a code for Ghost of Yōtei but it is what it is

Haven't never played any mainline Silent Hill games or even last year's SH2 remake, I can't tell you how it holds up against them. But as a survival horror game release in 2025, experienced in isolation, #silenthillf is an all-time great.

A lot of video-game publishers spend hundreds of millions of dollars chasing after "realistic graphics" and "massive open-worlds" when what players really want is just a shitload of weird little guys

and that's #HollowKnight done. Holy shit what a game!

Many thanks to @elliejoypanic.bsky.social for gently bullying me into finally playing it.

Hell is Us is an utterly captivating investigative action adventure that's more likely to appeal to fans of Obra Dinn or Outer Wilds, than to fans of Elden Ring (though I'm sure there will be some overlap).
