Laurie Halse Anderson is a national treasure. Books save lives, and it fills me with wonder and love to think of the lives she and her books have helped save. That her books are banned from schools statewide in Utah is a heartbreaking tragedy.

Redolent of a summer meadow teeming with colour and life, the high blue sky behind, this blue brocade gown was worn as a wedding dress by Helena Slicher in 1759. Such gowns were a canvas on which to show off the skill & expense of the brocade weavers’ art @rijksmuseum.bsky.social #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

Don’t know about you, but I need a timeline cleanse.

Just stumbled on a great obituary of a #RevWar soldier, Josiah Wentworth, who died in 1841 at age 87. A Bostonian, Josiah joined the Patriot army after Lexington. My fave line:

"...when a boy, (he) rendered himself obnoxious to the British officers."
