even within our spaces people see the overt fixation on men in like, fanfic or w/e and decide to go to the other direction

and while you can tell a lot of interesting stories, particularly with T4C dynamics without involving men, trying to omit them entirely torpedoes a LOT of messages nonetheless

if fandoms are communities (they're not, just to reiterate) then you're now on the hook for That MMO fans who find its politics empowering or Fallout fans who love that the BoS are nazis or 40k fans who find the Imperium aspirational rather than farcical or DA fans who love all the antisemitism.
