the situation in venezuela is infinitely complex. we venezuelans have been stuck with this regime for decades, our biographies have all been irreversibly changed (and in many cases fucked over) by it, no other nation has as many expats as we do proportional to the total population--for good reason.

It’s not mean or unkind to live in reality. Lament the state of our political discourse, but don’t give our reality-based truths away to someone’s misfortune or tragedy. Does anyone deserve to get shot for being cruel? Not necessarily. But being a cruel person who gets shot doesn’t make you good.

ALSO, he’s not a politician. He has been elected to no office. He worked some campaigns in college then dropped out to become a full time political violence agitator. Does he “deserve” to be shot? Who cares! He got shot. And it’s not wrong to keep in mind that, had it been you, he would not care.

It’s always the people whose ideologies match the exact type of person that word was invented to describe down to the last detail who try to pull that nonsense.
